"Super deep dance vibes suitable for any crowd"
Vancouver International Jazz Festival
Well known as a percussionist with groups such as Locarno, Mazacote and Tambura, Robin is devoted to bringing the marimba into the spotlight with this project and showcasing the diversity and richness of this uncommon instrument. The marimba's history dates back to one of the earliest melodic instruments known to humans and Robin continues to pursue inspiration from all sources for his compositions.
He has received travels grants from the BC Arts Council and Canada Council to pursue studies in Guinea, Mali and Mexico, where he had the chance to study rhythm and traditional drumming and marimba. These experiences as well as his jazz training from the LA Music Academy put together the framework for his music that aims to capture the breadth and beauty of human experience.
