June 10th - I'll be performing with Tambura Rasa at the Vancouver International Bhangra festival. We are playing a free outdoor concert in the afternoon, come by and dance with us. Come join us for an evening of original folk/pop/rock with this new side project of mine. Led by songwriter and bassist, Stephen Fisk, with Skye Brooks on drums and Sharon Minnemoto on keys. I'm playing vibes and using some effects for textual ambience. We're doing a monthly show here in 2012, these shows have sold out everytime, so please do book a table in advance if you plan to come and check it out. Tickets: $15/20 See info here See the jazz festival website for all the details www.bocephusking.ca Upcoming Workshops: Summer Camps for Kids School of Groove July 2-6, July 9-13th (full) and August 7th-10th I am pleased to be offering several workshops for kids ages 8-12 this summer. These courses are co-taught by my friend and colleague Michelle Cormier, who also leads a mariachi band for youth, one of the only ones in Canada. Students will learn about music from around the world. Cuba, Brazil, and West Africa. All the students will learn to play guitar, congas, marimba, shakers, djembe, and more in this fun half day camp. Classes run from 12:30-3:30 throughout the week with a performance at the end of the session on Friday.
