World Rhythms for Youth Society   Marimba Classes
Youth Performance Group

Summer Camp at Trout Lake Community Centre
August 28-Sept 1
1-3 pm everyday
$90
For registration go here

Add a little marimba to the end of your summer in this fun camp for kids ages 9-12.
Students will get a chance to learn about the marimba, congas, surdos, djembes and music from different regions in Africa, Brazil, Mexico and Cuba. We know making music together has the power to transform lives, enrich our day and educate us about different cultures and traditions around the world. We will focus on a different region or country each day, working towards a final performance of the music we learn over the week for parents and the community centre. Lower cost program thanks to funding from Grandview Community Centre Association

You will learn traditional music from Zimbabwe, Latin America and original compositions for marimba. The class also includes fun rhythm games, movement, and is all about having a good time playing music on the marimbas. There is an informal performance at the end of every term at a local cafe.

All classes are in Room 111 of the High School at Britannia.
The World Rhythms for Youth Society provides all the marimbas and mallets and I also teach hand drums and drum set as students progress.
